a San Francisco Arts and Enertainment Perspective
Who needs this?
My goal is to encourage arts and entertainment activities to expand and flourish in San Francisco.
Hospitality Industry contributes greatly to San Francisco's Tourist Economy San Francisco tourist economy hosted 15.7 million visitors who spent $7.3 billion during 2005 Vibrant Nightlife is expected and necessary in attracting conventions and tourists Competition for tourist dollars has other cities investing in huge sums to oust SF from its #1 spot San Francisco enjoys the highest rating in the Creative Economy San Francisco is home to over 365 night clubs and 4,405 restaurants and bars
Oftentimes poor planning puts nightlife activities on top of residential uses causing friction Some old buildings just can not be properly soundproofed without spending huge sums of money Not all nightlife patrons are well behaved and they cause problems for the neighborhoodI moved here for the vibrant nightlife and now I am a little older and my sleep is more importantWhy do they have to play the music so loud?
Changing the Planning Code to allow lower impact entertainment uses to populate the neighborhoods Creation of an "Accessory Use" category for entertainment where food service is the primary use Building of a multi-purpose outdoor stadium that will allow for concerts up to 10,000 people Re-Investing in our vibrant street fair community so that more events will dot the summer calendar Enforcing the soundproofing standards for new constructionCreating a fund to assist soundproofing existing venuesRe-invigorating the live music scene through rehearsal space availability
